Tixora, a ticketing service for intercity buses started by four University of Wisconsin – Madison students, has won first place and $10,000 in the school’s G. Steven Burrill Business Plan Competition.

Students from 50 majors presented their ideas at the competition, which has been run by the UW-Madison business school for 18 years. The annual competition, supported by the chief exeuctive officer of San Francisco-based Burrill & Co., is organized to promote entrepreneurial activities and provide a learning experience for students and faculty.

ITR Medical, which is designing a novel resectoscope to reduce bladder cancer recurrence rates, won the $7,000 second-place prize. LifeMap, which documents a person’s life by pinning stories, photos, and music by where and when they happened in online maps, took the $4,000 third-place prize, and Entolution, which makes food-grade cricket meal for use in insect food, won the $1,000 fourth-place prize.
