Accounting and financial advisory firm Baker Tilly is moving its downtown Milwaukee office from the U.S. Bank Center at the lakefront to the nearby BMO Tower.

That move is to occur before the end of summer, according to sources familiar with the move who spoke on condition of anonymity because it has not been formally announced. Baker Tilly, which moved to the U.S. Bank Center in 2012, is to lease almost 40,000 square feet in the BMO Tower building on North Water Street.

The lease is among the largest for downtown Milwaukee in recent months as the office market picks up momentum following a lull in 2020 and 2021 in the early years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some companies that sought short-term renewals or were hesitant to make long-term commitments for offices are back in the market, many seeking a space attractive enough to entice employees to leave home and come back into the workplace more regularly.
