Kwik Trip Inc. paid $14.1 million for 151 acres in Dane County where it could build a new distribution center to serve about 350 stores.

Kwik Trip spokesman Ben Leibl on Tuesday declined comment on future plans for the land the La Crosse-based retailer bought near Interstate 90 in DeForest. In an emailed response to questions, he wrote, “We are still going through the planning process for the site and we are in the early stages of that at the moment.”

Kwik Trip was to acquire the site to build an about 307,800-square-foot distribution center, according to concepts shared with DeForest officials in November 2023. That was provided as officials considered the request to attach the land to the village from the neighboring town of Burke.
