Family members from Michels Corp. pledged a combined $15 million to launch a rare-cancer research initiative at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The gift from Tim and Barbara Michels along with the Michels Family Foundation (Steve, Pat and Kevin Michels) will support the study of choroid plexus carcinoma and other rare cancers in the years from 2022 through 2026. The gift honors Tim and Barbara’s daughter Sophie, a survivor of the rare form of cancer.
Tim Michels is co-owner of Michels Corp., an infrastructure construction company based in Brownsville with offices in Milwaukee. The Medical College said it is partnering with Froedtert Health on the research.
