More than $800 million was raised by early-stage companies in Wisconsin last year, setting a new record for the state, although much of the money came from only a handful of deals.

The Wisconsin Technology Council said it tracked 111 angel and venture capital projects in 2021, nearly identical to the year before but 68% higher in the dollar amount.

“I think Wisconsin’s numbers were indicative of what was a pretty good year nationally for early-stage investing,” said Technology Council President Tom Still.
