APPLETON – Learn how to tap into various media channels and other techniques to keep your business front and center in today’s economy at the Thursday, Sept. 16 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network’s Northeast Wisconsin chapter.
The event will be held at the D J Bordini Center, 5 Systems Drive, near the Fox Valley Technical College campus in Appleton. Meanwhile, traditional forms of media, such as newspapers and magazines, continue to be powerful tools for businesses with a strong story to tell. Speakers include: Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council and former associate editor of the Wisconsin State Journal in Madison; Steve Prestegard, publisher and editor of Marketplace Magazine; and a senior representative of Red Shoes PR Inc., an Appleton-based firm with core expertise in social media, media relations and beyond.
“Understanding the basics of what makes news is important for early stage companies, which typically compete for attention in a crowded marketplace,” said Still, who also writes a syndicated news column and lectures at the UW-Madison Department of Life Sciences Communication. “Avoiding some common mistakes and understanding the needs of reporters, editors and news directors is important.”
