Net proceeds from the August 1 “Play at the Lake” outing at central Wisconsin’s Lake Arrowhead golf course will go toward assisting qualified entrepreneurs who register for the fall Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium in Madison.

“We want to help a select number of entrepreneurs attend the November 9 and 10 conference in Madison so more people can take advantage of the networking, advice and exposure they would get by attending,” Tech Council President Tom Still said.
Other highlights for the outing, which will take place at Lake Arrowhead’s 18-hole Pines course:
- The lowest-scoring foursome will win a round of golf for four, with carts, at Madison’s Blackhawk Country Club, to be used by Oct. 31 at the 101-year-old course.
- A “hole-in-one” shot at a designated Par 3 hole on the Pines Course will win a Ford vehicle from Kayser Ford in Madison; details to follow.
- Brandon Cloete, a former state amateur champion and “Player of the Year,” will take part in special games during the outing.
Features will include a pre-tournament clinic with club professionals and other games and competitions. Sponsors of the golf outing thus far include: AT&T, Findorff, Insperity, Michael Best, Quarles & Brady, Rome Realty, The Davidson Knaack Group at Robert W. Baird and WisBusiness.

The tournament will be a scramble format. While there are no official U.S. Golf Association rules governing scrambles, most feature team members teeing off, choosing the team’s best ball for their next shot and continuing until completion of the hole. No good shots on your team? Mulligans will be available for $5 each or three for $10.
There will be other hole-in-one prizes among games and contests.

Brandon Cloete is a South African native who golfed for Marquette University and now lives in Wisconsin. He has won amateur tournaments across the state and is a former Wisconsin State Golf Association “Player of the Year.” We’ll put Brandon’s talents on display throughout the day!
Tech Council members can golf, all included, for $125. Non-members can golf for $150 or join the Tech Council at our individual membership rate for the year, which qualifies you for the member rate for the golf tournament right away. Not a golfer? Join us for the buffet and cash-bar social hour following the tournament and take advantage of the swimming pool next to the clubhouse and area activities before joining the group for the evening festivities. The dinner-only price is $35.
Lake Arrowhead is near Roche-A-Cri State Park, which has a 300-foot-high rock outcropping with a wooden stairway to the top. The park features Native American petroglyphs and pictographs. The Necedah National Wildlife Refuge is also nearby with nearly 44,000 aces and 10 miles of hiking trails. Bicycling opportunities, ATV trails, water skiing, boating, fishing, tennis, bocce ball and other recreational activities abound.
Lake Arrowhead is in the Adams County Town of Rome, just 15 minutes south of Wisconsin Rapids off Highway 13. From Madison or La Crosse, it’s a drive of about 1 hour, 40 minutes. From Downtown Milwaukee, 2 hours, 25 minutes. From Green Bay or Eau Claire, 2 hours.
