Skyward, Inc., based in Stevens Point, Wis., has earned a 2012 Readers’ Choice Award for its software-driven school management system. Skyward is a member of the Tech Council’s Wisconsin Innovation Network.

Each year, readers of eSchool News, eCampus News and eClassroom News, most of them education decision makers, were asked to nominate their top picks for hardware, software, website or services. Nearly 1,300 nominations were submitted, and the 50 best were chosen. Skyward was the only student management system to receive the award this year.

According to one of Skyward’s customers, John Strack, administrator for Racine Unified School District in Wisconsin, Skyward’s Student Management System plays an integral role in its operations. “I have used Skyward software since 1997 and have found that the software itself, as well as the support provided, are designed to be quick, efficient, and highly user-friendly.” he said.

“We are honored to have our School Management System recognized as a top performer in the education technology market,” says Scott Glinski, Skyward President. “Our goal is to provide a solution that exceeds our customers’ expectations and this award shows that we are right on track.”

For more than 30 years, Skyward has been serving more than 80 percent of school districts throughout Wisconsin.

With a large customer base, about 380 school districts serving nearly 614,406 students in Wisconsin, Skyward has relied heavily on the talent that comes from post-secondary schools throughout the state to continually provide their customers with the best solution in the market. Over the years, Skyward has hired 206 graduates from Wisconsin Technical Colleges and UW campuses across the state and projects creating nearly 600 new jobs over the next 10 years based on company estimates.

Skyward continually contributes to the community and state in which it’s based. Recognizing the need to spend within the state to stimulate the economy, Skyward purchases heavily from businesses within Wisconsin before spending money elsewhere and showed its commitment to give back to Wisconsin school districts by being the Game Summary sponsor for the 2012 WIAA State Basketball Championships. Skyward employees are actively involved in a number of organizations throughout the Wisconsin community and sponsors scholarships at both UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) and Mid-State Technical College.
