Three people with rich backgrounds in innovation, including a current member of the Wisconsin Technology Council board of directors, were honored April 18 in Madison as part of the Chancellor’s Entrepreneurial Achievement Awards.

The following were cited for their entrepreneurial success, shepherding life-changing innovations into the world, while creating jobs, economic impact, and social capital:

  • Mark Bakken, founder and managing partner of HealthX Ventures and a 1989 UW-Madison graduate. Bakken serves on the Tech Council board.
  • James Dahberg, professor emeritus of biomolecular chemistry at UW-Madison and co-founder of Third Wave Technologies and Cambridge BioTech Corp.
  • Dorri McWhorter, president and CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago and a 1995 graduate.
