You haven’t missed your registration “tee time” for the 2024 Tech Council golf outing, which starts 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at The Oaks in Cottage Grove. Here are reasons to lace up your golf cleats for our outing:

  1. You can help entrepreneurs find the “green.” All net proceeds will go toward the 2025 Governor’s Business Plan Contest, a free contest to encourage entrepreneurs in the startup stage of tech-enabled businesses in Wisconsin.
  2. A great drive may come with wheels! A certified hole-in-one on a designated Par 3 hole will win $15,000 toward a Ford vehicle from Kayser Automotive Group in Madison.
  3. Other Par 3 aces score big, too. If you get a witnessed hole-in-one on another Par 3 hole at The Oaks, prizes will include a four-night adventure cruise, a set of new TourEdge EXS drivers or a Yeti cooler … also provided by Kayser Automotive Group.
  4. Teamwork counts. The lowest-scoring foursome will win a round of golf for four, with carts, at The Oaks among other prizes.
  5. Have we mentioned teamwork counts? The tournament will follow a scramble format.  While there are no official U.S. Golf Association rules governing scrambles, most feature team members teeing off, choosing the team’s best ball for their next shot and continuing until completion of the hole. No good shots on your team? Mulligans will be available for purchase.
  6. We have some tricks in our bag: There will be men and women prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin on an approach shot. Your games’ package will offer a “Putt with the Prez” option featuring Tom Still and his trusty blade putter. Our “string game” is a one-time way to improve your physical lie; other “lies” can be told on the 19th hole in the clubhouse.
  7. No one will go hungry. Lunch will be available for all players as well as frozen candy during the outing, sponsored by Quarles & Brady. After 18 holes, a reception will be held in The Oaks Event Center, which will have space inside and outside to network.
  8. Not a golfer? No worries. Join us for the buffet and cash-bar social hour following the outing. It’s a great way to network with others from across Wisconsin. Other fun games will be available at the reception, including cornhole, golf pong and more.
  9. State-of-the-art practice facilities are available for early birds. In addition to bag services and carts, your fee will include the opportunity to warm up before teeing off.
  10. This round of golf won’t break your budget. An individual can golf for $150. Foursomes are also available for $550.

Registration for the “scramble-style” tournament is open through Wednesday, July 24 by clicking here. The long-range forecast calls for fair weather; the shotgun start is 11 a.m.
