Highlighting the connection between the arts, technology and the “creative economy,” the Wisconsin Innovation Network will partner with the 17th annual Wisconsin Film Festival.
A select number of tickets to the 2015 Film Festival will be given away at the March 12th and March 24th WIN meetings, which are produced by the Wisconsin Technology Council. The film festival will be held April 9 through April 16 at several UW-Madison campus venues.
The entertainment industries, including film, are important to Wisconsin’s economy and workforce. Actors, set builders, technical graphical artists and various professions depend on a vibrant entertainment industry. The motion picture and television industry as a whole is responsible for nearly 8,000 jobs and $208.8 million in annual Wisconsin wages.
“The film industry in Wisconsin is broader than attracting Hollywood ‘shoots’ to attractive locations in the state. It’s also about supporting technology and innovation in graphics, design, software and gaming,” said Tom Still, president of the Tech Council.
The Wisconsin Film Festival is presented by the UW-Madison’s Arts Institute in association with the Department of Communications Arts. Founded in 1999, the film festival presents 150 films in seven theaters over eight days each April. For more information visit http://www.wifilmfest.org
