Artificial intelligence (AI) and a radical shift towards software-driven technologies are driving the need for a new breed of software professionals. Businesses need talent that bridges the skills gap between traditional software engineering and modern generative AI applications. To meet this regional workforce need, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is launching a new Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering.
Designed in consultation with northeast Wisconsin industry leaders, UW-Green Bay’s graduates of the program will be adept at integrating traditional software engineering and modern AI applications, giving students a unique opportunity while making them highly sought after in the job market. Industries from healthcare and finance to manufacturing and logistics will benefit from an increased local pool of knowledgeable software engineering professionals.
Software professional jobs are projected to grow by 25% from 2022 to 2032, and degrees in computing are also among the highest earning career paths, with an 18% annual return on investment.
