Farmers in southeast Wisconsin are facing a formidable challenge in the form of a severe drought. Despite the dry spell, local farmers have risen to the occasion and found innovative ways to overcome the adverse effects on their crops.
Amidst the limited rainfall that hit the region since May, farmers have adopted ingenious solutions, such as solar-powered irrigation systems known as water reels. Powered by solar panels, these systems can shoot water 40 feet in the air, ensuring the survival of crops during the drought. Without these resourceful tools, crops could have withered away completely.
Efficient water distribution methods have also come to the forefront as a crucial aspect of overcoming the drought challenges. Farmers have embraced drip tape systems that deliver water directly to the base of the plants. This efficient method allows the plants to absorb water effectively, compensating for the lack of natural rainfall.
