Starting or growing a business can be an expensive proposition, but a new “co-working” space aims to help women do just that. MalamaDoe, on the 4400 block of North Oakland Avenue, is an converted office space now outfitted for 22 women to rent an out-of-home area to do their work. The office officially opens on May 22 and has many workspaces, including one room with a green screen wall in case anyone wants to shoot a commercial. Founder Sheila Long said the business is about women helping women achieve their business dreams while empowering others and networking at the same time. She said the name Malamadoe comes, in part, from a Hawaiian term that means “taking care of business.”
