That’s according to an update from the Wisconsin Technology Council, which puts on this annual contest to highlight and celebrate early-stage entrepreneurs in the state.

This year’s semi-finalists include 15 in advanced manufacturing, 13 in IT, 12 in life sciences and 10 in business services.

Though the contest is based in Madison, 32 of this year’s semi-finalists are from outside of Dane County. And 15 entries are from women entrepreneurs.

All told, entries hail from as far north as Rhinelander, as far west as River Falls, as far south as Beloit and as far east as Milwaukee and Racine.

For the next stage of the contest, judges will select about 20 competitors to continue. The final 12, or “Diligent Dozen,” will present June 4 at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs Conference in Milwaukee.
