Forty-two early stage companies will present to potential investors at the Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium, to be held Nov. 10-11 at Madison’s Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.
The annual conference, which has existed under different names for more than 20 years, will feature the sixth annual “Elevator Pitch Olympics” for companies in a seed financing stage and the fourth annual Wisconsin Angel Network Early Stage presentation track for companies seeking angel investments and beyond.
Twenty-four companies were selected for the WAN track (Wednesday, Nov. 10) and 18 for the Elevator Pitch Olympics (Thursday, Nov. 11). Companies in the WAN track feature technologies in major sectors: information technology and Internet services, biotechnology, medical devices, advanced manufacturing and “cleantech.” These companies are located in communities across Wisconsin as well as other Midwestern states.
“The presenting companies at the Early Stage Symposium reflect the growing diversity of Wisconsin’s tech-based economy,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council. “From medical devices to software, from energy to new applications in construction, paper products and recreation, these companies represent potential opportunities for investors.”
Here are the 24 companies selected from nearly 60 applicants to make seven-minute investor pitches in the Wisconsin Angel Network tracks:
Adamas Energy Investments LLC – This New York company with Wisconsin ties seeks to build a solar energy portfolio of five megawatts on rooftops and parking structures at three industrial sites in Italy.
Aver Informatics Inc. – This De Pere company’s software suite enables healthcare professionals and systems to increase pre- and post-claim payment accuracy.
BioInfoRx Inc. – This Madison company provides standard and custom life sciences software-as-a-service to academic, non-profit, and commercial life sciences research laboratories, and small biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
Cardiac Advancements LLC – This Sussex company provides remote cardiac monitoring devices and services for doctors.
Cellulose Sciences International – This Madison company has developed nanoporous cellulose, an absorbent and elastic fiber which allows for new disruptive technologies in cellulosic fiber.
EarthClean Corporation – This Minneapolis, Minn., company has a patented, biodegradable technology that is more effective than water, foam and toxic retardants at suppressing structural and wild fires.
Echometrix LLC – This Madison company is commercializing a breakthrough, proprietary technology to drive the market for musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Eso-Technologies Inc. – This Middleton firm has developed a minimally invasive esophageal probe will replace the highly invasive pulmonary artery catheter to monitor patients with serious cardiac conditions.
iCura – This Delafield company helps patients take their medications correctly through use of a radio frequency-enabled home device.
Imbed Biosciences – This Madison company is developing advanced materials for wound healing and surgical applications.
Innovative Tech LLC – This Appleton company has created a tool for applying drywall tape to gypsum board that will reduce the time to complete a drywall job by 33 percent.
Marvel Medtech LLC – This Madison company is developing novel technologies that allow imaging centers and hospitals to upgrade their business to breast MRI with minimally invasive image-guided interventions.
Medical Engineering Innovations, Inc. – This Madison company has developed a liver resection radiofrequency generator and disposables platform that significantly reduces blood loss, transfusion rates, and related morbidities.
Megatron Electromagnetic Systems, Inc. – This Pewaukee company has developed patent-pending technologies designed to protect servers, computers, industrial controls, wireless devices and other digital technology from natural and man-made electro-magnetic pulses.
NanoOncology – This Madison company is developing biological drugs for its proprietary molecular targets for breast, lung, colon, ovarian, and skin cancers.
NovaScan, LLC – This Milwaukee company has developed a medical device which uses the electrical properties of tissue to detect cancer.
Orange Shoe Personal Fitness – This Madison-based franchise business focuses specifically on customizing fitness solutions for individuals and organizations and executed by certified and degreed fitness professionals.
Permit Path – This Delavan company has developed a one-stop construction permit site on the Internet.
Procubed – This Kenosha company is developing a lightweight, more portable, manual wheelchair with high efficiency function based on proprietary technology, eliminating user pain.
Rapid Diagnostek, Inc. – This Hudson company has developed a platform with applications in veterinary and human diagnostics, as well as food safety, bio-threats and industrial process, which produces sensitive results in 60 seconds using a cell phone-sized device.
StableBody Technologies LLC – This Middleton-based company is commercializing a new technology to optimize antibody and protein thermodynamic stability.
Sun Phocus Technologies LLC – This Chicago, Ill., company is developing a transparent solar concentrating film for building integrated photovoltaic windows, improving power generation by more than 30 percent.
UlluTek – This Middleton company plans to sell trend and demographic data while providing
a simple way to monitor and manage energy use for homes and businesses.
Xolve – This Platteville company specializes in production of nanomaterials, such as graphene, and other equipment and processes needed by companies developing nanotech products and processes in fields such as energy, surface materials and composites.

The Early Stage Symposium will also feature 18 panel discussions with nationally known speakers and panelists, the “First Look Forum” for pre-commercial, campus-based discoveries and a luncheon honoring Wisconsin’s winners of SBIR and STTR grants. Participants in the angel and “Elevator Pitch” tracks will also be eligible to take part in presentation training seminars.
