MADISON – Healthcare industry leaders, local health information technology startups, investors and other industry leaders will converge at the first “Start Me Up” Meet-up Day June 10 at the Fluno Center on the UW-Madison campus.

The event, produced by WTN Media in collaboration with the Wisconsin Technology Council and the Wisconsin Angel Network, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10.  The event is a part of the 2013 Digital Healthcare Conference, a gathering of healthcare leaders being held June 11-12 at the Fluno Center, 601 University Ave., Madison.

“Start Me Up” will include sessions on how startups and their advisors can engage with the industry’s Chief Information Officers; how to negotiate terms with a healthcare provider in getting a technology pilot up and running; and how large companies establish partnerships with third-party vendors.

“Wisconsin is a leader in healthcare IT innovation, both with more established market players and startups that are emerging to become tomorrow’s industry leaders,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council. “Following on the heels of the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference, this event will be a great showcase of what Wisconsin has to offer for emerging healthcare IT companies.”

“As the healthcare marketplace works to adjust to changing reimbursement and the move from volume-based reimbursement to value-based reimbursement, organizations need technology innovations to help them survive this new reality,” said Dr. Barry P. Chaiken, chair of the Digital Healthcare Conference.

The agenda also includes time for eight emerging healthcare IT companies to give short presentations on their technology and what problem it solves. Networking opportunities are also available, along with a lunch and a reception, which starts at 5:30 p.m.

Registration fees are $25 for emerging company representatives, healthcare IT startups and entrepreneurs who have been in business for less than two years, and $50 for investors and other interested parties. You can register for the event at www.startuphit.com.
