Marquette University’s College of Health Sciences has landed a $1 million donation from alumni that will be used to establish a fund to explore new areas of study and expand existing lines of research, specifically in neuropsychiatric illness.

“This generous gift will accelerate the pace of work of our research teams as they strive to disclose underlying causes of mental illness and devise faster acting and more effective strategies to treat them,” said Dr. William Cullinan, dean of the College of Health Sciences and director of the Integrative Neuroscience Research Center at Marquette, in a news release Thursday.
