Hanging on the wall In Teresa Esser’s office on Milwaukee’s north side is a framed piece of barbed wire fence from the de-militarized zone that serves as a buffer between North and South Korea.
The fence fragment is a daily reminder for Esser, managing director of the Silicon Pastures angel investing group, of the sacrifices American soldiers have made in South Korea and the bond between the two countries — a bond she is aiming to strengthen.
Esser’s group in November launched a new initiative called Silicon Pastures Exports to encourage companies to sell products to South Korea. The group, which says it has invested in more than 40 companies over the last decade, is hoping to work with not only its own portfolio companies, but others in the region, Esser said.
