WisBusiness: Six research projects are getting funding from the UW-Milwaukee Research Foundation’s catalyst grants.

The program, now in its ninth year, gave $150,000 in grants to boost research ideas that have the greatest potential to boost the local economy. Those projects include one that looks to develop a better biomedical imaging technology and another looking at a new method for creating genetically modified plants.

Three of the projects are also getting nearly $200,000 in grants from GE Healthcare, including one that’s developing a higher-density battery for CT machines.
